We will accept older TOEFL test, but it cannot be older than 5 years

"I have graduated with a master degree at an English speaking university (English speaking country) do I have to take the TOEFL test?"

No, if your university is English speaking (not only some programs but the entire university) you do not need to take the TOEFL test. In this case, please communicate a hard copy of an official certificate from your university stating that the official language is English.

"I forgot to mail my documents; will my application still be processed?"

No, only complete applications will be processed. That means that you have to complete the online application and communicate the hard copies of the documents required on time, via regular mail.

"I will not have finished my Master of Science before the applicaiton process closes, can I still apply?"

Yes, as long as you will graduate before the start of the program. Please send a supporting document from your university via regular mail, stating the expected date for completing your Master of Science program. Note that if you do not finish before the start of the EDIM program, you will lose your spot in the program.

“I have an engineering degree at the bachelor’s level and an MSc in another field. Am I eligible to apply for EDIM?"

To enroll in the EDIM program you must have a Master of Science degree in the field of engineering or related fields such as natural science or technology.

"Can I get in contact with a member of the EDIM faculty to discuss the thesis proposal which I am required to write to apply for the program?"

No you may not. This is to insure fairness and to safeguard the need to enroll candidates that can conduct research independently.

"What is the salary afforded to the candidates?"

The candidate signs employment contracts with his/her home and host universities. The fellowship is 2800 euro/month, subject to tax and social security deductions. Thus, the net salary is expected to be in the range of 1400-1700 Euros per month, depending on local regulations.

"Who can receive an EDIM fellowship?"

Only candidates who have applied for and have been selected by the EDIM consortium, in accordance with its specific application and selection criteria, are eligible for a scholarship.

"How many fellowships are offered?"

- 5 scholarships category A and 1 Balkan/Turkish window
- 3 scholarships category B

"What are the fellowship rules and requirements?"

- Candidates need to spend their study period in at least two of the consortium partner countries (home and host universities) Note that these two countries must be different from the country in which the doctoral candidate has obtained his/her last university degree (an exception is Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders). The mobility period is, however, tailored to the specific PhD research project.

- EDIM students should participate in the PhD program in accordance with the terms defined by an individual Doctoral Candidate Agreement. Failure to do so could lead to the cancellation of the fellowship.

- Students benefiting from an Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate scholarship may not benefit from another European Community grant while pursuing their Erasmus Mundus PhD studies.
