Anna Darmani granted an Eu-SPRI PhD Circulation Award

Anna Darmani was selected by EU-SPRI for a three-month visit to the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University. This prestigious Institute has significantly contributed in the advancement of the knowledge, techniques, methods and instruments in the field of sustainable development while heeding to relevant social debates and policy processes.

Eu-SPRI (European Forum of Policies for Research and Innovation) aims to strengthen the vibrant but dispersed interdisciplinary community of researchers focusing on interdisciplinary dimensions related to policy and governance in the fields of knowledge, creation and innovation.

The award is granted to doctoral researchers in the second year of their PhD thesis (or further).
Anna is one of three selected candidates in the 8th Call.

The Hult Prize Foundation recently announced that Team KTH, consisting of EDIM PhD candidates Vikash Sinha, Simon Okwir and Marin Jovanovic, as well as KTH PhD candidates Caroline Munthe, Charlotta Linse, from the KTH Department of Industrial Economics and Management, has advanced to the regional finals of the fifth annual Hult Prize. The Hult Prize is the world’s largest student competition and start-up platform for social good. In partnership with President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Global Initiative, the innovative crowdsourcing platform identifies and launches disruptive and catalytic social ventures that aim to solve our planet’s most pressing challenges. Student teams compete in six cities around the world for a chance to secure US$ 1 million in start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture.The regional finals were held in London in March 2014.
The KTH Team was ranked top two in its track and also received a special recognition and mention from judges during the final ceremony at the British Museum on the innovative vending machine concept.

EDIM candidates elected EMA representatives

We are very proud to announce that two of our EDIM II candidates have been elected representatives of the Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association (EMA).
Simon Okwir was elected Vice President of the African chapter.
Yasmine Sabri was elected Regional Coordinator - Northern, of the African chapter.

We trust that our candidates will contribute with new ideas and good leadership to EMA and wish them luck in their respective functions.

Raul Pulido candidate at UPM and POLIMI was selected as a finalist of MOPTA competition

2013-09-17 12.48.23During the competition his team “OptNAR” was awarded with the second place. His team also was composed by Natalia Ibañez Herrero (UPM), Adrian Marcelo Aguirre (INTEC) with the advisor Miguel Ortega Mier (UPM).
Each year, AIMMS partners with the MOPTA organization to run a worldwide OR competition in which student teams are invited to participate. The competition taxe place in Bethlehem, PA, USA.
Operation Room Management Under Uncertainty was the problem presented by the MOPTA Committee in January, for any student team in the world to solve by the June 14 deadline. This hospital operations problem challenged participating teams to consider a surgical scheduling problem. Their solution to the problem was required to utilize the AIMMS modeling platform, and had to give OR managers effective, quantitative and useful tools for managing staffing and sequences.
The winner of the competition was Alexander Tesch (ZIB, TU-Berlin) from “ORopt” team, the other finalists of the 2013 competition also included Team “OptNAR”(of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and INTEC), Team “Universiteit Twente” (of Universiteit Twente), and Team “ORTEC”(of ORTEC, University of Amsterdam).

image001Anna Darmani won the prize to the best early career poster titled "Co-evolution and Emergence of Technological Innovation System for Renewable Energy" at the 2013 Eu-SPRI Forum Conference on Management of Innovation Policy, Madrid, Spain.
Eu-SPRI (European Forum for Studies of Policies for Research and Innovation) aims to strengthen the vibrant but dispersed interdisciplinary community of researchers focusing on interdisciplinary dimensions related to policy and governance in the field of knowledge creation and innovation.
The Eu-SPRI Forum was founded in Paris in June 2010 and has presently 15 member institutions.
The decision for the early career poster award has been made by a committee during the three days of the conference. The selected candidates were announced and the awards were given in the conference farewell dinner.
